A Multifaceted Gamete
Pollen are the barely visible male gametes of a flower. They contain a great amount of plant proteins, including free amino acids, which humans cannot produce themselves and which we therefore have to take in with our diet.
But because pollen also contains the entire genetic information of a plant, it is protected from external influences by a tough protective capsule. If this protective layer is not broken, humans normally excrete pollen unused.

That's why we gently extract the precious ingredients from the pollen before processing it into an extract. The special process we use is very complex and involves several stages – but it is the only way to retain as many proteins as possible, which play an important role in building and maintaining body cells, for example.
Bees do something similar: They are able to break open the pollen capsules and thus feed their larvae with them. The pollen is thus an indispensable food source for rearing their brood.
